The Annual General Meeting for ISSUP Kenya, which is mandated by law for all societies and constituted our national conference, was held today, online. There was a good turn out and several resolutions were made which will be ratified by the executive committee before being announced to the broader membership. 

ISSUP Kenya in partnership with the PCEA graduated the first cohort of trainees on basic UTC course:a total of 30 participants.The ceremony at the Kikuyu mission hospital was graced by the Governor of Kiambu County,His Excellency James Nyoro, In coming SG of the PCEA, Rev. Dr. Waihenya and the CEO of Kikuyu hospital Dr. P.Kimpiatu. Other officials present included Rev. Dr. W. Kogo, ISSUP Kenya Executive Dr. Richard Gakunju & Vice president ISSUP Kenya Ms. Susan Gitau.

ISSUP کینیا خوشحاله شوه چې په دې کلونو کې د روانی روغتیا نړیواله ورځ د چیرومو دماغی روغتون او د APA بیمې شرکت سره په ملګرتیا کې ګډون وکړی. د ۱۰۰ څخه زیات ګډون کوونکی د مادې د استعمال د بې نظمۍ په اړه د ویبنار سره یوځای شول: د کورنۍ او همکارانو رول په کار ځای کې. 

نن د یو ټی سی لپاره د ISSUP-Kenya / PCEA د روزنې د افتتاحی ډلې د فراغت په مناسبت ولمانځل شو. دا غونډه زموږ د خپل مرستیال ولسمشر ، موالیمو سوزان ګیتاو ، او زموږ سرپرست ډاکټر ریچارډ ګاکونجو له خوا اداره شوه او د افتخاری مېلمه یې د کیامبو کاونټی والی ، انجین نیرو وو. دوی به ډیر ژر په امتحانونو کې برخه واخلی. نن د کورس د بشپړولو سندونه وړاندې شول. آفرین به آنها، و برای امتحانات بهترین ها. نن ورځ د ختیځ افریقا د پریسبیټرین کلیسا (PCEA) لپاره د ISSUP-کینیا لخوا د UTC روزنې پای ته ورسید چې د دې عقیدې پر بنسټ سازمان غړو او کارمندانو لپاره د اکتوبر په 2019 کې پیل شوی. په اصل کې د جون 2020 پای ته رسیدو لپاره د دې ډلې روزنه د COVID-19 وبا له امله ګډوډ شوې وه.

On behalf of ISSUP Kenya, I presented our memorandum to the Mental Health Task Force of the Ministry of Health. The task force, which  was set up following a cabinet directive chaired by the President of the Republic of Kenya, seeks to gather public views on challenges and solutions about the state of mental health in the country. As a professional body we advocated for substance use disorders to be treated as a mental health issue and not just a security or moral  issue.

In October 2019, ISSUP Kenya and the Presbyterian Church of East Africa commenced training on UTC for its staff involved with management of persons with substance use disorders. It was a milestone for both ISSUP Kenya and the faith based institution. The series of UTC trainings will continue until mid 2020.
