Introduction

Inter-GLAM is a European project, co-funded by the European Union’s DG Justice Programme "Drugs Policy Initiatives - Supporting initiatives in the field of drugs policy” (JUST-2019-AG-DRUGS). The project aims to collaborate with diverse stakeholders to elaborate on global perspectives and trends shaping addictions and drug markets, and will co-produce a strand of the 4th European Conference on addictive behaviours and dependencies (LxAddictions22, 23-25 November 2022).

PLATO, a multilingual integrated platform, is designed to facilitate online training, e-learning and discussion through a virtual community of practice (VCP).

At present, PLATO hosts the European Prevention Curriculum (EUPC), a programme launched in 2019 targeting decision-, opinion- and policy-makers at local or regional level.

In future, the platform will also offer training and support to frontline prevention staff and to practitioners and decision-makers in areas such as treatment and harm reduction.

This miniguide is one of a larger set, which together comprises Health and social responses to drug problems: a European guide 2021.

It provides an overview of the most important aspects to consider when planning or delivering health and social responses to opioid-related deaths and reviews the availability and effectiveness of the responses.
