This month marks a major milestone for our members - we are officially celebrating 10 years of ISSUP!
A decade ago, we set out with a clear vision: to train and connect the global workforce in substance use prevention, treatment, and recovery support at every level. On 6 July 2015, at our inaugural meeting in Bangkok, a consortium of international partners came together to lay the foundation for a global community committed to professionalising the field - and ISSUP was born.
What began as a shared aspiration has since grown into a dynamic international network of over 45,000 members, supported by a dedicated team and driven by a strong sense of purpose. The original vision to support and strengthen drug demand reduction worldwide has not only endured, it has expanded.
This journey would not have been possible without the unwavering support of our partners, staff, and funders, whose guidance, collaboration, and belief in our mission have propelled us forward from the very beginning.
As we enter our second decade, our mission remains unchanged, but our ambition grows. We look forward to growing our membership and forging new collaborations to meet the evolving needs of the workforce and those they help.
